Everyone has their own martini preference. With that in mind we still went on a search to find the best martini of 2009. Our first stop is in Puerto Vallarta. We just happened to stop in a little bar near the beach on the south side of EL Centro. The bar is called Garbo. As we sat in the air-conditioned building we noticed that this bar was not exclusively gay. But, happened to be very gay friendly.
They also served one of the best martinis I have ever tried. As I soaked up the ambiance of this popular bar and listened to the piano music Martini Asti playing in the background I realized why the drink before me was voted the best martini of 2009.
Our next stop was in New York. We had to attend a birthday party for a friend of ours. The party was at a lounge located in the West Village. The lounge was called 49 Grove. Once again as I sipped my martini and absorbed the chic ambiance I realized why my drink was voted one of the best martinis of 2009.
After New York, I went to visit my brother in Washington DC. I suggested we check out a bar called Halo, since their martini was voted best DC martini of 2009. This upscale restaurant has an eclectic menu and some very interesting drink combinations. I really enjoyed my flirtini which consisted of Stoli raspberry vodka, chambord, pineapple, and moet imperial float.
It's fun to travel and to try different martinis. I usually check the reviews and try to sample the martinis voted the best, by the martini drinking crowd. But the best martini, for me anyhow, are the martinis I make at home. I can use my favorite shaker, my favorite alcohol, and get creative with my garnishes. Plus when I'm at home I can drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
